A birthday page for your girlfriend
A text gets read once and buried under twenty others by lunchtime. A page is something she opens at midnight, shows her friends, and goes back to a week later when she wants to feel it again.
What to put on it
The photos she has never seen
Not the ones already on her camera roll — the ones you took when she was not looking. Laughing at something off-camera, asleep on the drive back, mid-sentence.
The song that is yours
Whatever was playing the first time, or the one she plays too loudly in the kitchen. It starts the moment she opens the page.
The thing you never say out loud
The typed note types itself out word by word after she blows the candles out. It is easier to write than to say, and she gets to keep it.

Questions about making one for your girlfriend
We have not been together that long. Is a whole page too much?
Scale it rather than skip it. Four or five photos, one honest sentence and no contributions from anyone else reads as thoughtful, not intense. The page does not have to be full to be worth opening.
Can I use photos she has not seen?
Those are the ones worth using. Photos already on her camera roll get a smile; the ones taken while she was not looking are the ones she screenshots.
Can I set it to open at midnight?
You publish whenever you like and send the link whenever you like — the page does not go anywhere in between. Most people build it a few days early and send it at midnight.
